Family Promise of the Northland is a nonprofit organization committed to help unhoused and housing insecure families and individuals in Clay and Platte Counties achieve self-sufficiency.
Our overall focus is to help our guests get back into permanent, sustainable housing and employment as quickly as possible. While in our program, participants will receive food, hygiene resources, and comprehensive support services. Guests also have the opportunity to develop enduring life skills through individualized case management from volunteers.
The deeply-rooted community-oriented nature of Family Promise of the Northland enables us to provide a low-cost alternative to emergency services outside our immediate community, typically only found south of the Missouri river.
When we help guests meet their basic needs and give them the opportunity to create a plan to get back on their feet, they can begin to realize their dreams of providing a better life. This improves the lives of future generations and also changes our community for the better.
The problem of poverty is complex. It won’t yield to a simple solution or a quick fix. It requires an integrated approach that begins with meeting immediate needs but reaches much further to help people achieve independence and to alleviate the root causes of poverty.
With the help of our generous donors, volunteers, and community partners, we provide our guests with the services and support they need to transition out of homelessness and back into a position of self-sufficiency.
